My family arrived on our second day in Hawaii and we went on this crazy hike! Joel (our neighbor) recommended it to us but it was something else. We hiked for nearly 5 hours bushwacking the whole way with mud up to our ankles! These first pictures are near the first part of our hike when everyone was still excited to be in the mud.
Katelyn and the boys... Notice the shorts... You can blame the pink shorts on Nicholas. I tried to keep Devin from wearing them but my wifely charm has lost its power. I finally hid the shorts so he couldn't wear them anymore.
Still smiling on top of the mountain. The scenery really was gorgeous! ... We felt like we were in the TV show LOST on this hike!
The Fam cleaning off in one of our many river crossings!
We finally ended up at the tunnel after hiking for nearly three hours! Only the four of us made it this far.
Originally the tunnel was built to bring water from the wet side of the island to the dry side but is no longer in use. The tunnel is supposed to be a mile long and have beautiful flowers on the other side... we didn't get that far.
The beautiful island of Kauai!
The lighthouse!
There were chickens everywhere on this island! Supposedly years back there were lots of hurricanes which broke all the cages so now they run wild. One man said they actually got caught in the hurricanes and came from different islands.
Here the boys are trying to catch the chickens using a rope and bait! If we became stranded on the island we would never starve :).
These boys had way too much fun together! Here they buried Landon in the sand.
Again this is Nicholas' influence on Devin.
Our last day we played here at Kipu Falls. We jumped off the waterfall and swung off the rope swing! It was the favorite part of the trip!
The brave men.
Notice Devin's long shorts!! It's the only day his shorts were longer than mine!

KAUAI !
We vacationed to Kauai!! We went with my family and spent 5 days on the island. The weather wasn't perfect... Sometimes it was a little rainy, windy, and cold... but we still had such a fun time!
Here is Devin with all our bags after we just arrived at the airport. My family didn't end up getting on the same flight we did, so we got to take all their bags!!
On the beach right outside our hotel. It was a little rocky here but so pretty to walk down the beach! And we ran into a pregnant sea lion.
On the North Shore Beach! We spent the morning lying on the beach and snorkeling.

I want to know where Nicholas purchased his killer swim suit?! The mullet would have been sweet with that get up. :) Thanks for sharing the trip via the blog.
