It worked out so perfectly for us and our kids. We stayed in a cute little condominium just a couple miles from the beach. It was convenient to go out to the beach after breakfast, come back for naps (which Bridger wouldn't take... too much excitement), then go back to the beach, or the pool, or shopping, or just hang out in the fun condo.
Our first days there, Wednesday and Thursday were cooler, especially when the sun would hide behind the clouds and the wind picked up. But we saw dolphins jumping those days. Friday and Saturday were hot days, perfect for soaking up sun and encouraging swimming.
Bridger didn't like the beach at first. When we first walked out to the water, a wave came crashing in and knocked him over. So he was a little nervous about he water. I reclined in a beach chair and read, and in the beginning Bridger just sat on my lap. But as the first day wore on, he started shoveling sand and began to really like playing on the beach.
Can I tell you how much I LOVE to sit on the beach, listen to the waves crash in, and read my book? I LOVE it! SOOO RELAXING! And I'm on a reading kick and I started and almost finished my book over the weekend. My kind of fun!
Devin came on Friday and he brought Amy with him for double the fun. With his dad there, Bridger decided he liked the water, although he always made sure he kept hold of a hand. We played games to make it more fun for him, like chasing the water and then running away from it and stomping out the bubbles as the foamy waves rolled in.
Mostly we just really enjoyed the beach. I only got up the courage to swim once with Amy. The ocean is still kind of cold, but we were getting fried in the hot sun, so we (slowly inched our way in and) took the plunge, and, after we got used to it, the water felt great! Our crazy kiddos loved making sandcastles, especially stomping them down... digging in the sand, throwing sand (yeah, no), and running and rolling in the sand.
I loved having my Devin there with me. It is hard to get him away during the summer for vacations, because work is so busy. Scott was SUPER NICE and stayed to run the business back home so Devin could experience how great the beach was. (Thanks!). Having him there made everything seem so much easier and laid back. (He packed in all our beach chairs and toys, and the kids all followed HIM around. When he tried to relax on his beach towel, they buried his hands and feet and sprinkled sand on his back.)
I think the beach is Relaxing and Romantic. And it was fun to have our romantic moment holding hands and walking down the beach together.
We really enjoyed the condo too. There was a grill in back (which I think may have been Devin's favorite part) and we grilled up so many yummy veggies a couple nights in a row, because they were that good! Grilled zucchini, red peppers, potatoes, and mushrooms!!! YUM! And some perfectly juicy chicken too! Devin was our grill master and he did good.
We spent our nights playing cards (which I lost terribly at), eating junk, watching movies and getting shocked (Devin let us all try out his little torture machine with electrode pads, I forget what it is called, he uses it on his back, he calls it a massage).
Vacations are SO GREAT!

Our family...
On the way home Devin and I laughed, when I remembered our anniversary. . . We missed it by three days! Somehow we both forgot. So funny! Happy four years to us! Love you hun!
