lil' Myra

Myra is quite the girl.  We love her, and we love when she takes loong naps!  It is really hard to get much done with her around.  She is constantly begging to be held.  Always stuck on my leg whining/crying when I refuse.  I had a realization a couple days ago.  I always thought Myra was so good until she turned one, and then she took a major turn for the bad.  But I realized up until then, she couldn't walk so I always held her!  Then when she could walk on her own, I expected her to walk around on her own... but she didn't change. I think she's always liked to be held, just my expectations changed and I didn't realize it.       So instead of trying to change her, which obviously isn't working (I've thought if I didn't give in to her whining, she would eventually give up and go play on her own. That's been my aim for the past 8 months.  But she is too darn determined, she keeps it up until I can finally appease her.)  So sometimes, I will give in and hold her now.  When I can do it one handed I'll hold her while I'm cooking, and she loves it.  It makes her SO happy, and she cuddles right in to my shoulder, and of course, won't let me think of setting her down... but they are sweet moments with my Myra.
Myra loves to sing!  She can sing her ABC's; Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, I Am a Child of God,The Wise Man, and the Bumblebee song.  She can also count up to 12, which I think is very impressive, and I give full credit to Courtney because she would count cards with Myra when she lived with us.
Myra's new favorite thing is going potty!  She started it on her own!  She begs to use the potty!  So for almost two weeks now, she tells me when she has to go, and she poops on the potty.  Pretty impressive I guess.  I think she likes it because it turns into story time as I wait for her.  If she starts to go in her diaper before she tells me she has to go potty, I make her finish in her diaper, and it makes her SO MAD!  But, despite the extra time I have to devote in the bathroom, I have really been impressed.
Myra loves to talk on the phone!  If you want to talk to Myra, feel free to call!  She is always begging to "talk".  But you might have to hang up on her, because she rarely gives up the phone during a conversation.  She also loves necklaces, sunglasses, her red boots, carrying purse type bags around, and peanut butter!
This was really bad on my part!  I would like to say that she found the peanut butter on her own, and opened it on her own, and I discovered her without any knowledge of it.  The truth is, Myra had been going through about a jar of peanut butter a week.  She will take spoonful after spoonful after spoonful.  I got tired of giving her spoonfuls, so I just gave her the jar and the spoon.  I know, really bad mom!  But I watched her for a while, and she was doing a pretty good job, and staying clean with it.  Then I allowed myself to become distracted, and when I turned back, this is what I found.  She was quite pleased with herself.  Although she doesn't like to be messy, so when she was full of PB, and I wasn't totally happy about it either, she ended up not so happy as we washed her off.
