Aargh, matey!
Luckily, when Halloween came for real, it did not disappoint! We had such a fun ward Chili dinner/ kid games/ Trunk-or-Treat at our church. Bridger came as a pirate, and Myra as a cute little Ladybug. Our party has become super popular, there were TONS of people there, but that didn't hurt the candy bag. Bridger came home with a HUGE stash! He was thrilled!
Then on Halloween night, Bridger went Trick-or-Treating with a boy from Devin's young men's group, that has been begging for weeks to take Bridger! He told us that people would just hold out their bowls and let Bridger pick all that he wanted! Bridger's bag was twice as full as the other boys at the end of the night. I did take Myra to one house across the street, and she was thrilled that they gave her two candies! A little sucker and some chocolate. But don't worry, she's definitely not going without, she's probably eaten more candy than Bridger.
I'll be honest, I think it is fun to dress up, be a little crazy and have fun on Halloween, but I really wish we could eliminate the candy! Why don't we pass out raisins, craisins, carrot sticks, apple slices, or pretzels? I know it would probably be a huge let down to the big kids, but I think Bridger would be happy to collect anything in his bag door to door. Really, I just hate the battles that ensue after the candy comes home. I keep giving it away, I'm about ready to chuck it all. I know, no fun mom.
Bridger is actually pretty good. When Devin told him he ate all his candy, he, surprised, said, "You did? You're going to get a tummy ache!" And when I told him I needed to hide his bag of candy, he brought it right over to me, "Here you go. Thanks mom! I love you! Now I won't get a tummy ache!" But today when he was supposed to be doing his quiet time, he was so upset and came out with a red face and tears because he wanted some candy SO MUCH! And Myra is a candy-o-holic. She has become a climber this past week, and manages to keep finding candy, even after I think I've put it all up.
Here are my little cuties! ...

so cute Mckell! I agree about the candy...we took Kyson to about 10 houses, and it was the perfect amount of candy for me to deal with!
