I am so far behind in my blogging. Hang with me, I'll try to do some catching up in a hurry! Be prepared! Long posts to follow!
October was a fun filled month full of Fall fun, Halloween costumes, pumpkin carving, and trick-or-treating. It marked the beginning of the best holidays during this time of year (after Halloween we have a solid line up: my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas)!
We went to a fun pumpkin patch with a blow up bouncy house, a haunted bus, and slides. For double the fun, we got aunt Amy to visit us Myra instantly asked for chap-stick when she saw her! Amy is a professional pumpkin carver, placing in the Adams family contests every year. ;) So it was good to have her around to help us out!

Devin drew some sample faces and let the kids choose the face for their pumpkin. I traced mine, it was way too much work. Next year I'm sticking with a funny face pumpkin.![]() |
| Check out Myra's facial expressions... they're awesome. |
Myra did a good job helping to clean out her pumpkin, but she couldn't help her gag reflex each time she pulled out the slimy guck.

| I told the kids to make the same face as their pumpkin. ha. |
Making cookies!
Part of the goodness of the holidays is all the treats we get to bake and share! The kids love to help. So after I did the first pretty batch for gifting, I let them take turns rolling it out and cutting it themselves and re-rolling and cookie cutting. Then they got their own, personal icing cups to ice their own cookies. They love licking the icing straight off the knife just as much as off the cookie The only reason they eat the cookie is for the icing anyway.
They had their first experience in doorbell ditching, and Bridger declared "That was so awesome!" They loved being sneaky and running away. Ironically, when we came home, we found that we had been booed as well! The kids thought it was great.

Costumes
The ward Halloween party and trunk-or-treat was super as always, with the church packed as full of people as possible. Food, kid games, and trunk or treating is a hit with everyone! Getting the kids ready for the event became a little stressful since I was on my own (Devin was setting up). Myra was to be Elsa and wanted to look beautiful, and I didn't let her wear enough lipstick, and why not the bright red lipstick, and "I want to do it myself"! She loved wearing eye shadow, lipstick despite the meltdown, and earrings! Bridger decided to sport the alligator mask and tail from his birthday party last year. His costume was easy. And Sawyer was my little pumpkin.

Trick-or-treating
Dinner in a Pumpkin
Halloween night we had our traditional dinner in a pumpkin, ghost cake actually cornbread this year, who needs more sugar?, and Sarah did caramel apples too! It was fun to share the night with the Calderwoods, and then the kids did a little trick-or-treating. Luckily our kids are thrilled about getting any candy, so within an hour they had filled their bags and were home excitedly dumping their bags, examining, and taste testing their yummy treats. We still tried to put the kids in bed at a reasonable hour, but every time the door bell rang they were up to answer the door and hand out candy. They loved it too much!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
