Date Night Fun

Historically, our dating life was at its peak before 2008. Throughout our married life, Devin and I have been terrible daters. But sometimes we DO go on dates! Anniversary and birthdays we usually remember, and if there is an event happening (sporting game, holiday party) then we get a few hours out on the town. And I have to say, I'm getting better at planning dates. :-)

We had a fun anniversary date. On June 7 we hit our seven year mark! Though our Cruise was celebration enough, we pulled out our bikes and rode seven miles to Carolina Brothers BBQ, had dinner there and biked back home. One thing I love about Virginia is its trails. It was a great date!

Then Newsies came to town! It is new to the stage. The Newsies movie, had mostly a cult following (Mormons?), apparently just large enough to get it made into a Broadway. One of the cult, I love Newsies! When I heard they had made Newsies into a musical, and it would be coming to DC, I signed onto the mailing list so I would be one of the first to know when tickets were on sale!  Early on, I knew, I made plans... January tickets were released... and then I bought tickets two weeks before the show.

The adaptation to stage was fabulous. They changed it, but it all worked well. Singing and dancing... Especially guys singing and dancing... Love it! If only I could talk Devin into learning to dance like a Newsy! The show was wholly enjoyable and entertaining. I was sad they left out Jack Kelly's solo song/dance, but I don't know if this Jack Kelly could quite measure up to Christian Bale. However, we loved Broadway's Crutchie! He had a fabulous voice! (Below is our favorite song from him).

Always love Broadways! Always need date nights! Always super grateful to our babysitters!
