Wet kisses

The kids play a game that goes like this... "Bruce!" They call, and then they hurriedly curl into a ball, and wait for Bruce to pounce and slobber all over them. Then they giggle, and try to get away. When he leaves, they call him back again. It's so gross... and very funny.
Racing across the field.
Having Bruce has been great. The kids absolutely love him. Sawyer is always calling him over "Booo-s!" When he licks their mouths they think its hilarious. Bridger wrestles him and Bruce play bites. He knows his boundaries, and he know how to act with each of us... He won't jump up on Devin or I, but Bridger and his friends love it when he jumps on them, and he has learned that. When we put food in front of him he won't eat it unless we say "okay". I can hold a piece of meat up to his nose and he will try to look away from it. Lying on the floor, he will wait a torturous amount of time for us to give the go-ahead signal. He is a smart dog.

Bruce is my fourth child. I really feel that sometimes. Just another somebody to clean up after and keep track of. He's gone missing a time or two. On one occasion the kids and some friends were all playing in the front yard, then they all came in. I was busy at the time and forgot to check to make sure Bruce was put back. About an hour later I remembered... and he was gone. After putting all the neighborhood on high alert, running all around, and driving back and forth over the same roads... Devin finally picked him up at the animal shelter, turned out he hadn't wandered far, but a neighbor must have brought him inside and kept him there until he was picked up (his dog tag had fallen off). He's so friendly, he probably didn't even fuss when they loaded him up. It proved to be almost a good thing he got caught because before sending him home, they got him up to date on all his shots. We recommend that your dog go missing briefly as well.

He is finally old enough to go running with me! Unfortunately I can't run much anymore (due to Devin's new work schedule, which I'll write about later), but I do like him as my running buddy (when I do go) he stays right in step! And he is always an eager hiking partner.

We spend much of our hikes 'racing' each other down the path.
