Little Champions

Bridger and Myra have turned into little swimmers thanks to our neighborhood swim team this summer! Daily swim practice was held June-July and I watched them both progress so much! Myra was part of the beginners swim lessons, and Bridger got to be on the swim team in the 6 and unders. They both loved it. Huge thanks goes to their Coach Ian, and his young coaches who helped out so much.

At the beginning of the season Bridger was so excited to swim in the races, win, and get a medal. I tried repeatedly to explain to him that maybe he would have to practice all summer so that next year he could win. Despite that, he was determined that he would make swim team to earn a medal. He was able to swim in every meet (except the ones we skipped, especially after his stitches) and he swam so well! I saw a huge improvement from his first meet to his last. At the end of the season party the younger coaches handed out the trophies, ribbons, and a paper plate award they come up with themselves. Bridger got the "excited swimmer" award. His young coach said every time after he gave Bridger instruction on what to do Bridger would say "Okay! I can do this!". I couldn't hear his words from where I was sitting during the practices, and it impressed me... He is such a good boy. I am proud of the swimmer he has become and of his positive determination he displayed.

Myra has no fear of the water. Beginning the season she loved to float around in her floaties and goggles always with her head under water. Now at the end of the season she is doing the same thing, but without the floaties. She also loves jumping in and calling out "cannon ball!" in a rapid fire action. She got the "Pretty in Pink" paper plate award because all her swim suits are pink, really it is so fitting.

Sawyer only wishes he could have been part of swim team. Each time we go to the pool he calls out "swimming lessons!". He can cover the whole length of the pool with just the help of his floatie alone. He much prefers the big pool to the baby pool, and he can hardly wait to be the first to jump in. Next year he'll get to join the beginners in lessons.
