Twenty months ago I delivered a little boy in the Loudoun County Hospital. Devin and I were very excited for the new addition to our family, but we didn't yet know exactly the way our lives would change.
All of the sudden we were parents! Although we weren't really sure what to do. It took a lot of reading and figuring out, patience and love. I soon found that the thing I had always dreaded was about to happen!. . . I was about to become BORING! When we were used to staying out late with friends, we had to come home early for bedtime! Where the day used to be mine to do and go as I pleased; I now revolved around nap times and feeding schedules and now everywhere I went I had an extra car-seat, diaper bag, and baby to haul around.
We began to get to know our little man. From the beginning he has always been sweet tempered and happy, full of energy and his own silly personality. He became the number one topic of our conversations. We gloried in his first accomplishments, like when he first smiled, rolled over, crawled, stood, walked and said his first word. . . all the little things.
Yes, we did get the stinky, dirty diapers; but we also got sweet hugs and kisses, smiles and cuddles.
As Devin and I were lying in bed last night we commented how he has added so much to our marriage. . . to our family. Life is never boring with Bridger around! He is always entertaining us, always making us laugh. Life would be so different for us right now if we didn't have Bridger. Devin and I would probably both be working, probably keeping the same schedule day after day, and life would probably feel a lot more boring than it does now. Bridger has brought us so much happiness!
Life has definitely changed since Bridger came along, but it has all been for the good. We often comment how much we like our Bridger guy. He truly makes each day fulfilling. We can't wait for our little girl to enter our family in February. We are so lucky to be parents!
