Ragnar Trail

Go Ragnar!  We tried out the new Ragnar Trail Series this year, in WV.  I got a team together of eight girls and we road tripped 3 hours + to the beautiful West Virginia.  I can check off another state I've been to now.  You get a whole bunch of girls together, away from kids and responsibilities, and we're sure to have a good time!
Our party did get rained on... literally.  Lots of rain, all day Friday.  It finally stopped around 9PM.  We were cold and wet.  I'd get done running, change into dry clothes, and then walk back to "Ragnar Village" and be soaked again.  I went through four pairs of my shoes, plus a rented pair.
I was proud to be able to say we did get all our tents set up quickly, in the rain, and they stayed up and stayed dry inside.  Although we did spend a lot of time warming up in our cars with the heaters running.
The trails were fun!  The runs were interesting, and I never got bored.  I was busy jumping over rocks and boulders, trying to stay on my feet in the slippery mud, especially when running down hill, and spotting "DANGER" warning signs for the most precarious spots.
When I took time to look up, the scenery was beautiful!  One area of trail we were running through ferns, then we got into Pine trees, and some areas had a stream running by.  In the morning, when I was running my last leg, it was amazing!  I reached a spot where the sun was shining through the trees, but there was still a low misty fog.  Picture perfect!  It's too bad I don't carry a camera on me when I run!  When I finished, the fog was gone and the sun was shining brightly.  Saturday was a great day for Ragnar!
We didn't take any pictures on Friday, we were just freezing, but we did get some fun team pictures at the end!
I loved spending time getting to know these girls better!
(There were three trails that looped around Ragnar village.  We ran all three for a total of 16 miles each.)

Those who were smart wore rain boots through the mud puddles!
