He was honestly so good to me, hardly complaining even when I scheduled extra study sessions with friends or stayed up late on my own making flash cards, reading and highlighting. Then (after six months of enduring my absences) he throws me a party! He invited so many friends, many of whom I'd practice taught along the way.
I honestly knew nothing of the party. I thought we were having dinner with the Calderwood's. He'd been looking up recipes and acting sort of mysterious, but I figured he and Brandon were having some kind of cook off and wanted to impress Sarah and I with their mad cooking skills.
So imagine my surprise when I come outside and see a table full of food, and people start congratulating me (for what I don't know), and the Calderwoods aren't there but people just keep showing up. (Calderwoods did come, they just weren't the first to arrive).
He had a whole table full of chopped vegetables and meat he had marinated for kabobs. He had gone to a ton of work! (Chopping all those vegetables and pineapple must have taken forever.. I know Brandon helped). And it was notably delicious. There was another table filled with sides of what our friends brought. He had borrowed our neighbor (Kim)'s snow-cone machine. And the fire pit was out for s'mores.
I was totally surprised. Such a fun night! Devin knew how to take advantage of the first warm day of the year! I fully enjoyed the evening, feeling so thankful for my hubs and all our friends!
I'm including Devin's e-mail, because so many people were laughing about it and forwarded it to me afterward:
(Exhale)Grab your yoga mats, (inhale) skinny into your yoga pants and (exhale) come join us in a celebration. Embrace your inner Kama to get outside, and leave your Krodha at home. Now that it’s starting to warm up a bit, I thought this weekend was the perfect opportunity to celebrate McKell getting her Yoga Teaching Certificate. I will be hosting a kabob BBQ / s’more party in our cul-de-sac to celebrate this grand occasion. It will be 75 degrees, which after a cold winter will feel like 85 degrees so it’s going to be the perfect opening outdoor function of the year.I will be providing all the kabob and s’more stuff, if you could please bring a side dish to share and a chair or yoga mat (if you embrace lower back pain) to sit on that would be great. Also feel free to bring bikes if you or your kids want to ride around the neighborhood. All who like yoga and/or Mckell are welcome to come. Bring the family! Please RSVP and let me know who is coming and with how many people.*Women are welcome to wear yoga pants if they desire. Men, however, will not be allowed to wear yoga pants; nobody wants to see that! This Saturday March 25th, food starts at 5pm. Come earlier if you like.
