We love living in a neighborhood with a pool and with the perks of being on swim team! I think it is the greatest thing. My kids had swim practice every morning. Sometimes the water was cold... Bridger didn't love going then, but on hot days when the water felt warm he begged me to let him stay and swim longer. With daily practice the kids learn their strokes quickly. It is the best way to start out summer and give structure to our day. And it is great for teaching the kids that they can do hard things!
Myra did beginners this year. She might have made the team had she tried out for it, but she's a girl that knew exactly what she wanted and she wanted to do beginners with Sawyer this year. She loves beginners and the fun swimming games they play, and the coach often asked her to show the others how to do a stroke, she loved that too. At the end of the season Coach Ian asked her if she would like to swim in a meet. She decided she would and she swam backstroke.
Bridger made some good friends from swim team this year. He was always excited to swim in the meets. He was able to compete in three strokes this year, and they added him in the freestyle relay race too! Breaststroke is his favorite. He's turned into a little fish this year, whenever we go to the pool he'll start swimming laps for fun.
