A Witchy HALLOOWEEN

For Halloween, we took a trip to Salem, Massachusetts!  It was a super-dee-dooper time!  We went with some of our really good friends, Mindy and Ricky Guymon.  They have a baby girl (Gracie) that is about Bridger's age.  They poke each other's eyes and noses and are becoming really cute friends!
Salem is Halloween's best place to go!  Can you remember your history, back to 1692 and the Salem Witch Trials?  The Puritans came over from New England and settled in Massachusetts.  The witch frenzy all started with the reverends daughter and niece.  Their servant Tituba would tell the girls eery witch tales,... then the girls started acting very strangely: becoming contortionists, having convulsions, and shrieking unexplainably.  I'm sure they really freaked their family out and their neighbors, as the witch disease was spreading to other children in the community.  The local doctor came and was unable to give a diagnosis so he declared them bewitched.  Betty and Abigail then went wild, pointing out all the witches, who were then tried  and could be found guilty all on spectral evidence, then they were hung.  In all 141 women and 44 men were accused, less than half of that number were actually tried, 19 were hung and 13 died in prison, they even hung two or three dogs.  It ended when the girls accused the governor's wife and he said this is enough!  Pretty cool history.

We saw Frankensteins, Witch's, and other demons dressed up on the streets.  Real witch's come and sit down to do psychic readings.  There were cool old buildings, grave yards dating back to the 1700's, crowded streets, tickets for museum tours and plays... Salem was a really neat place to visit on Halloween.  We toured some of the museums and buildings about the witch trials, and a pirate museum- Aargh.

It felt about 20 degrees colder than I planned on it being.  I was wishing I would have brought warmer clothes for my Bridger and for me.  But we wrapped Bridger in lots of blankets and still had a lot of fun!

We also went to Boston and walked the Freedom trail that has lots of cool historical buildings including Paul Revere's home.  Lots of history that I don't know much about but now I want to learn more about it.

We learned about the USS Constitution... it is a ship, not a document.  It is very famous because it is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world and has never been hit, obviously.

I also want to point out how many smarts my Bridger has!  When the sun is in his eyes, he covers his face!

We had the trip of the year!  Everything worked out so well for us to be able to go.  We found a decent hotel that we were all able to squeeze into and have large sleepover parties.  It had a pull-out bed, and a separate bedroom we rock-paper-scissored for, and we won!  Definitely got the better end there (sorry Guymons).  It even had a little tiny kitchen with one little elf pot.  Free breakfasts in the morning made the experience complete with burnt bagels.  (It really wasn't half bad, I just couldn't figure out the toaster.)
The real winner was our black FBI-Style Suburban we 4-wheeled around in for $30 a day.  Our men have superb skills for working the system!

The most scrumptious thing my taste buds fell giddy over was my delectable smores!  Mmm Mmm MMM!
The trip was awesome!  Loved it.
