One Nation Under God ???

I could not help but waking up feeling the bleakness of the day for our nation.  My first reaction was of wanting to follow our friends, Adam and Liz, out of the country, because Russia seemed brighter than the USA at the moment.
I am disappointed with the way the election went this year.  I believed us to be more intelligent.  Devin and I did our part and placed our vote.  I am troubled though, knowing several of my friends were not registered to cast their vote.
I love our nation but, I fear this election will cause the unravelling of core values, established by the founding fathers.  There are many issues Obama supports which I strongly disagree.  Abortion is one.  Same sex marriage is another, and laws were passed in its favor yesterday.
There is a paragraph near the end of the Family Proclamation that I have stuck in my head stating, "We warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets."  Joseph Smith mentioned how the Constitution would one day "hang by a thread".  It may have been directed to the Mormon Battalion at that time, but I feel it is also applicable now.  He ended saying "the Latter-day Saints-- the Elders of Israel-- will step forward to its rescue and save it."
As the campaigns were going on, I felt as if we live in the thick of it. On every corner there are Romney/Ryan and Obama/Biden signs. We've been bombarded with campaign ads on TV and the radio. Even at church we feel the controversy as friends and neighbors have such differing opinions.   It made me want to return to Utah, where it is more comfortable as the majority share my views.
Elder Bednar has a quote, and I don't remember what it's from or even where we were when we heard it, but Devin gave me a gentle nudge when he stated something relating to the Mormon exodus to Utah, but that now we need to expand our stakes and our influence around the nation and the world.
So to my friends and family with sound judgement, its time to become our neighbors!  :) Start to make your way to be here in four years time.  We still have hope in our nation.  We are still strong.  We will still pledge our allegiance.

Bridger has gotten really good at repeating the pledge:
