Camping out!

The best and biggest adventure we had with Amy and Dallin was when we went camping! We went to Bull Run Park in Manassas, which is nearby, on one of the last weekends we had together. The weather forecast was nearly perfect: cool temps and only a slight chance of rain. Oh, how that weather forecast lied!! After our guys got done working we drove to our lovely camp spot, and had only just gotten the kids unbuckled and out of the car when the slight drizzle turned to a down pour!

We hid in our cars for about an hour... And the whole time it said the chance of rain was 0%!

See, my weather bug says its sunny! And no rain! Lies!
Apparently it was only raining on us!

Finally it calmed down enough for us to get out of the car and get the tent up before it got dark. The kids rode their bikes, searched for bugs, found toads, loved swinging in Dad's hammock, and did a great job camping overall! They were so happy to be sleeping in the tent, they didn't complain at all when we put them to bed!
I couldn't believe all the toads we saw! Our campground was covered... it seemed like when it got dark they all came out. Walking to the bathroom I was afraid I was going to step on a toad because there were so many! Bridger thought they were great!
Roasting mallows for s'mores is always one of my favorite things about camping! They are one of my favorite treats! So messy, so yummy.

We had to wait for this puddle to drain before we could put up our tent.
But we got it up and slept comfortably! Devin and Dallin slept in hammocks. According to Devin, once you try it you will never go back.

Devin cooked us a really yummy breakfast in the dutch oven! Bacon, hashbrowns, and eggs!
It was a short camp out but so much fun!! Even with the rain, we had a great time!
