Generally our Poulton family blog describes our life focusing mainly on myself and our kids. But if Devin wrote a blog, his posts from summer to now might look like this: (imagine in first person from Devin, I couldn't fake it this time, I've got enough trouble coming my way.)
- Work! He would fit right in with seven dwarfs or the 3rd little pig... He doesn't look like a dwarf or act like a pig, but based off their priorities they'd get along great! Hard work is bred into him. It's one of Devin's best qualities. Much of his time is spent at Recon or serving others.
- 4th of July BBQ... A major factor keeping him home instead of leaving with his family to Utah. His minds eye was locked, like a dog, on a picture of meat. July 4th and BBQ to him are one and the same. Just mention the 4th and he'll start salivating. This is the day he hungrily anticipates year round. While family reunions were happening out West, Devin was wearing the Grill Master hat, cooking up macho steaks and hosting all the Recon employees and their families for the annual 4th barbecue. I don't know many other men that would host a dinner party without a wife to help with the meal prep and house work, but "it ain't no thing but a chicken wing" to Devin.
- Bed bugs... HiiYa! Killing all those creepy creatures in the nastiest apartments he's even laid foot in inspires him with appreciation for his wife and home!
- Padded bike shorts and long bike rides. Devin formed a biking posse with other guys from the ward. They'd go several mornings a week and Devin would spend 2-3 hours biking some Saturday's.
- High adventure and other scouting activities. He loves being with the boys in our ward. They have one awesome leader!
- American Gladiators featuring EL TORNADO! They resurrected this sweet sitcom for a live presentation one mutual night. The Gladiators (leaders) came together and fought the mere mortals (youth) who dared face them. Devin was the MC and when he ran out into the gymnasium the youth were at awe, puzzling, 'Who might this hunk of a man might be?' Best activity ever.
- Mucho house repairs after our move. Ripping apart and rebuilding our deck with a shed addition is his biggest undertaking.
