NATIONAL ZOO
The zoo can be a hit or miss, but we got to see lots of animals and we were there so late that, even though we parked in the payed parking area, we didn't have to pay when we left! When we were walking out it was dark and I saw what I thought was a leaf blowing over the path, until it suddenly changed direction. "Bridger," I said, "I think there is a toad that hopped over there." It had hopped off the path into a bush, Bridger hadn't even seen it, but seconds later Bridger exclaimed, "I caught the toad!" The kid has no fear, and he loves finding pets! It took some persuading for him to leave the toad in his zoo home and not bring it home with us.
In one of the weeks following, my mom came to visit! It was conference weekend so we mostly hung out at home. It's wonderful to have my mom here! Some highlights with my mom were apple pie (with Devin's crust!), caramel apples (hilariously the caramel dripped right off half of them), and baking powder snowmen (that Bridger wanted to keep forever and not melt). The kids can't wait for the next time, and they always hope to hop on the airplane along with our visitors when its time for them to leave.
