I wish I could take a snapshot of our bench at church when our kids are cooperating. When Myra is tired, Devin will cover her eyes with his tie. Bridger does the same for Sawyer.
Bridger is a great little guy. He has lots of energy and says things like "I'm so excited!" and "This is the best day ever!" for things like making cookies or going to see a friend. I think somehow we loose our enthusiasm as we grow up. I love that my kids still have the enthusiasm and energy I've lost.
Starts his sentences with "The thing is..."
He loves being a big brother and is really good most of the time to his siblings. Sometimes I feel bad that I put so much responsibility on him, but he fulfills well his roll and he takes great care of Sawyer and Myra. Sometimes though, he gets Hulk-like bursts of energy and pretends to squish Sawyers hand as he growls at him. I think it is a Boy Defect that has no override button.
He is a peace-maker in our family. If he and Myra both want the same toy, he will usually give in and let her play with it first. For a while, after I would put Myra down for her nap, if she'd call for something, Bridger would go in and give her a drink and tuck her back in bed.
He is a practicing mime. He will carry on full conversations, without saying a word, mainly by hand gestures and pointing. He can carry these on full length with Devin.
He is learning and practicing good knife handling skills from Devin. Not sure if I should admit that we let our kids play with knives. It is supervised. When Myra wants to practice her knife handling skill she uses a butter knife instead of Devin's pocket knife. Bridger's favorite part of getting a package may be using a knife to cut the tape .
He is so good and so willing to help out. Sometimes he turns into a mope, but is most the time full of tricks, sneaking his way, and giggling as he goes.
He saves his treats for impressively long amounts of time.
His favorite number is "sixty hundred". It is used for a really, really big number.
Bridger asked mom how old she was on her birthday. Then he replied, "That's so old! You're going to start to die. Some people get so old and then they die."
When I ask him what he wants for his birthday he says "baby kitty cats and doggies".
He is a perfectionist. It frustrates mom, because if he can't do something perfect he shuts down saying he just can't do it. He wants to do everything perfect the first time he tries.
All of the sudden he started coloring inside the lines. I (mom) complimented him on a job well done, "Bridger, I've never seen you color like that before. Who taught you?"-- "No one taught me. I just tried!"
When I tell him to draw a person he typically draws a stick figure. This time I told him to draw a body. He even got a belly button on there.
Pretends to go hunting with his pretend rifle. Especially after dad shot and brought home two deer. He also loves eating deer steak!
After we learned that earth worms eat dirt and dead leaves, Bridger filled up a bucket with worms he dug up and he topped them with a big dirt clump. He said, "I can't wait for them to eat that dirt! I think they will really like it!"
Conversation between Mom and Bridger went like this:
B: "Mom, when are your going to have another baby?"
M: "I don't know. Should we wait a long time?"
B: "Yeah. Like tomorrow."
M: "Do you like babies?"
B: "Yeah, I love babies! They're so fun!"
Conversation between Bridger and Myra:
M: "I'm out of energy"
B: "You are? Here's some energy. Do you have energy now?"
