Valentine's Day

I've been such a terrible blogger, I'm getting so behind that I start to forget what we've been doing! I'll try to catch up and then not get so far behind again.

Valentine's Day was a good excuse to eat a lot of frosting! I have figured out the way of making sugar cookies with kids is to make a first pretty batch myself (which we give away), and then let my kids go to town cutting out the subsequent cookies, and rolling too flat, and re-rolling all the dough. Then as I frost the pretty cookies, they each get their own cup of frosting to eat, or to frost their own two cookies. That way, it's super successful!

Leading up to this year's Valentine's Day we did a week of hearts. I found a cute book about leaving "Heartprints" behind with the kind things we do (by P.K. Hallinan), so every time the kids or Devin or I did an act of service we'd tape a heart on that person's door.

We had a fun filled family day on Valentines. We don't give big gifts, but our kids woke up to fun decorations, a treat by their plate, and a shared present of a movie and a book. We had a yummy breakfast and dinner and many treats in between. The favorite thing of the day was glow in the dark miniature golfing. My kids have never been before and, even though they struggled a bit, they loved it!
Lining the ball up!
Myra and Bridger helped to unwrap chocolate kisses to make chocolate pretzels. I found that Myra had hidden several chocolates in her purse. I said, "Myra, did you take my chocolates?"

Myra: "But I will give it back to you when I'm done eating it!"

Sure do love, LOVE, LoVe my family!
