Happy 50th Dad!

We had the super privilege to host my dad on his birthday!  Could we get any luckier??  And he was turning the BIG 5-0 to boot!  I submit that that is a big deal!  So in birthday fashion we had balloons, a cool cake, and presents!  I don't know who was luckier... HE for getting to celebrate with our awesome Poulton clan, or US for getting to party with one heck of a fun dad/grandpa. :-)

He flew in on Saturday, and had his birthday on Sunday so the lucky guy got to have our ward all wishing him a happy 50th (it was announced in Sunday School and Priesthood classes).
We came home and after dinner we sang "Happy Birthday".  Bridger was grandpa's pal and enthusiastic helper with blowing out the candles and opening presents!
Devin never ceases to amaze us with his talents.  My dad said he wanted an airplane cake, so an airplane cake he had!  Scaled to near perfection, the Bombardier CRJ landed on our kitchen table with "ooh"s and "aah"s exclaimed of its beauty.
The main cabin was fused with chocolate and vanilla in a delicious Ice-Cream Party Roll.  The wings, nose and tail engineered out of rice-crispy treats and a smooth chocolate sealant; jet power derived from Little Debbie's Swiss Rolls and powdered sugar lettering. . . all these components come together to form a masterpiece!
Anyone for toasted rice-crispies? ;)

My sweet baby cakes!
Yes, we definitely were luckiest party to have a visit from grandpa on his birthday!
Proof that I was there too!
The next day my dad flew home, taking Bridger with him!  B was so excited!  (He's been asking to go for weeks!)  He gave me a kiss, "I'm sorry Mom, but I have to go" and I had to talk him into letting me drive him and grandpa to the airport, he wanted me to stay home!  He gets to spend a spoiled week with grandma and grandpa.  Myra gets a full week of attention from me.  And I get a break from the new phase Bridger is going through.  Maybe I'll read "Love and Logic" parenting again so when he gets back I'll be on top of the mom game!
